StayWell Custom Communications Receives URAC Health Content
Provider Accreditation
EVANSTON, Illinois - February 9, 2010
Custom health communications company
StayWell Custom Communications (SCC), a division of MediMedia USA, has been
awarded the Health Content Provider Accreditation from URAC, a Washington,
DC-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality
standards for the health care industry. URAC's accreditation was awarded to
SCC's comprehensive interactive health content offering, which includes
comprehensive adult and pediatric health libraries, healthy living guides,
interactive tools, nutrition information, and more. The accreditation
requires compliance with disclosure standards, accountability and
policy/procedure standards, quality oversight standards, and enhanced
health content standards, plus peer-review and licensure standards.
"We're honored to receive the Health Content Provider Accreditation from
URAC," StayWell Custom Communications president and CEO Trent Sterling. "We
are very pleased to be recognized in the industry for providing
outstanding, credible content that meets URAC's national standards for
quality and clinical review."
URAC's enhanced editorial standards require health content providers
to develop editorial policies and apply these policies to all health
content carrying the health content seal licensed to other Web sites.
Editorial policies specify that in addition to the standards of HWS
accreditation that:
- Health content be peer reviewed by a minimum of two health content
reviewers;
- At least one health content reviewer is a health content reviewer with
expertise in the specialty area relevant to the condition under review; and
- Licensed health content cannot be edited for content by the web site
receiving the licensed health content.
"By applying for and receiving the Health Content Provider Accreditation,
StayWell Custom Communications has demonstrated a commitment to quality
health care," said Alan P. Spielman, URAC president and CEO. "Quality
health care is crucial to our nation's welfare and it is important to have
organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national
standards."
The Health Content Provider accreditation seal is portable with the health
content provided by SCC, thereby allowing consumers to see the health care
accreditation seal they trust ("URAC Accredited") with health information
they are seeking.
