Fairview Health Services Chooses Krames for Enterprise-Wide Patient Education Solution

Multimedia Content Available through Suite of Consumer and Clinician Applications Ensure Consistent Messaging Across Multiple Patient Touch Points

YARDLEY, Pennsylvania – February 2010

Fairview Health Services, an integrated healthcare network serving Minneapolis-St. Paul, greater Minnesota, and the Upper Midwest, recently chose Krames Patient Education to provide a patient education solution for their system of seven hospitals, 48 primary care clinics, 55 specialty clinics, hospice and home care services.

“We have been challenged with providing consistent messaging across a complex continuum of care with multiple patient access points,” explained Lane Stiles, Director of Fairview Press at Fairview Health Services. “However, using rapidly emerging technologies, we were confident we could find an effective and efficient solution for distributing content to both clinicians and patients. Krames was able to provide such a solution.”

To support the entire Fairview system including clinicians and patients, Krames will be deploying the Krames On-DemandTM print-on demand system, the streaMedTM video on-demand system, Krames Go-to-GuidesTM which are online multimedia, interactive disease management workbooks and the Krames OnlineTM multimedia patient education website. All told, the Fairview community has access to over 3,300 patient education articles; 2,000 emergency medicine discharge instructions; 2,000 medication information sheets; and over 230 video programs. Almost all Krames content is available in English and Spanish with selected text and video titles available in 12 additional languages.

Mr. Stiles added, “We chose Krames after a long review process for a number of reasons including the fact that Krames offered so many video assets, the fact that Krames applications were user-friendly across multiple touchpoints, the fact that Krames has a good relationship with our primary EMR provider, the fact that Krames is solely dedicated to patient education and, very importantly, the fact that Krames applies health literacy design principles to all its materials.”

“We are delighted to be providing a complete patient education solution for Fairview,” added Jean Neiner, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Krames. “It is gratifying to provide universal access to quality health education via numerous applications at a variety of touchpoints that support Fairview’s investment in internal IT systems.”
